Tom Hamilton
Thomas (Tom) E. Hamilton is a former Marine, successful entrepreneur, civic leader, and has contributed to several publications and renowned speaker. Tom Hamilton specializes in working with small businesses, from start up to several hundred employees. This is where Tom shines because of his knowledge of small business and working with the business owners. This has carried over to supporting the “adviser” community to small business. These include insurance brokers, accountants, payroll services and consultants.
Tom supports and educates employers and their advisers on options and strategy that a relevant in today’s ever changing marketplace. Since 2002, Tom has led efforts to educate and empower companies and individuals of the changes in legislation and compliance of health care reform and general business management practices. This led to the creation of Hamilton Edwards in 2013 moving the focus to not only dealing with the health benefit challenges but the overall business challenge companies faced with heavy doses of regulation and demands on the small business community. Prior to Hamilton Edwards, Tom owned and operated a worksite enrollment and communications organization and was the Regional VP for a Fortune 500 HR administrative company where benefits, payroll administration and Human Resources were essential to the success of a business. Tom has also worked for Fortune 500 companies like Gevity HR, Conoco Phillips, American Business Products and Corestaff.
Tom’s experience in the various areas of human resources, business operations, strategic initiatives, health insurance and international medical business has made him a key advisor, consultant and advocate to organizations throughout the country. He has written for publications like Health Care Reform Magazine, Self Funded Magazine, Wellness Benefit Magazine and is consulted for clients of Health Care Benefit Network. He has provided seminars to local chapters of the National Medical Society, Rotary and Kiwanis Civic Organizations, Chamber of Commerce and NAHU (National Health Underwriters). Education Tom holds a B.S. degree in Business Administration, Personnel Management from the University of Tennessee, Knoxville. In 2006, Tom attained his certification in Consumer Driven Healthcare and in 2010 attained his Health Care Reform Certification and is an expert, educating businesses on flex plans and tax structures, through various means that best fit their situation.
