Robert Stanley Hodges, Ph.D
Robert Stanley Hodges is a Biochemist, Bio-technologist, Educator and Researcher. Robert Stanley was born on December 30, 1943 in Saskatoon, Saskatchewan, Canada. He is the son of Bert and Frances Hodges. He graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Biochemistry with honors, University Saskatchewan, 1965. Doctor of Philosophy in Biochemistry, University Alberta, Edmonton, Canada, 1971.
He received the Recipient honors scholarship from University Saskatchewan, 1964, Medical Research Council studentship, Edmonton, 1969-1971, Post-Doctoral fellowship, New York City, 1971-1973, Special Recognition for Contributions to Biotechnology, Government Alberta, 1986, Distinguished Medical Research Council Scientist award, 1995, Alberta Science and Technical award, 1995.
He had worked on several institutes such as a Postdoctoral and research associate with Rockefeller University, New York City, 1971-1974. Assistant professor Department of Biochemistry in University Alberta, Edmonton, 1974-1977, Associate Professor with the Department of Biochemistry, 1977-1984, professor, 1984—2001. Professor, Department of Biochemistry and Molecular Genetics in University Colorado Health Sciences Center, Aurora, since 2001. He is also the Program Director in Biomolecular Structure, John Stewart Chair in Peptide Chemistry, since 2001.
Robert Stanley Hodges has been a member of the following groups: Medical Research Council Group in Protein Structure and Function, Edmonton, 1974—2001. President Alberta Peptide Institute, 1985—2002, Synthetic Peptides Inc., 1986-1994. Network leader protein engineering network Center Excellence, 1994—2000.
His achievements includes: A patent for Synthetic Psuedomonas aeruginosa Pilin Peptide and Related Vaccines and Diagnostics. Research in synthetic peptides and proteins, de novo design of proteins, high performance liquid chromatography and capillary electrophoresis of peptides and proteins, synthetic vaccines and antibody therapeutics, antibacterial peptides, role of coiled-coils in protein function and self assembly.
