A graduate of Chillicothe High School and a lifelong Ohio Resident, Ms. Atwood has devoted her life to bettering her community. Currently, Ms. Atwood serves as the Director of Resource Development and the Child Development and Family Service for Ohio University – Chillicothe, Ms. Atwood makes it her mission to help others and better the surrounding community. Directing the Child Development and Family Service Center is no small task. Since 2007, the center caters to over 300 pre-school children as well as serves as an educational for over 200 Ohio University Chillicothe students who are seeking degrees in early childhood education. When not involved with the Child Development and Family Service Center, Ms. Atwood devotes herself elsewhere, spending her time involved with the United Way, Altrusa, Big Brothers Big Sisters, and her local YMCA board.
Ms. Atwood also has the distinction of being the first woman inducted to the Ross County Chapter of the Chillicothe Kiwanis Club in 1988. Ms. Atwood has been called a devoted mentor by none other than the Mayor of Chillicothe, Luke Feeney; a man who has worked with her at various programs, including the United Way, Big Brothers Big Sisters, and the Child Development and Family Service Center for Ohio University Chillicothe. In 2009, Ms. Atwood was the recipient of the Red Cross Hero Award, and earlier this year, Ms. Atwood was honored at the annual Ohio Statehood Day Prayer Breakfast with the 2018 Ohio Statehood Day Achievement Award.
